    About

I've been improvising and producing shows in Bristol for over a decade. These days I produce, host and run Wednesday Night Improv, the monthly show at the Hen & Chicken, and I've performed in and produced shows including Pressure Cooker, Scenes to an End, Tales of Adventure and Nothing to Play For. I was also one of the original members of Bish Bosh Bash, where I still perform.

Away from the stage, I'm a business psychologist and a qualified coach, and I co-founded the workplace improv training programme at the Bristol Improv Theatre. That background shapes how I teach: I care about the connection between performers as much as the laughs. The improv I love is quick and witty, but grounded enough to drop in and make an audience actually feel something - I think it has real power to do that.

I'm fairly convinced all the best scenes are set in Derby. Outside of improv, you'll most likely find me having a cup of tea and a sit down.

    Specialties

My specialisms are corporate and workplace improv, short-form games, and long-form narrative. I enjoy helping teams bring out their silliness, as well as creating structure - whether that's for the performance, or for the logistics behind the show (both are important!). I'm happy to help with all of it: performance, directing, producing, show creation and refinement, and building a group you actually enjoy playing with.

    Training background

I've trained at the Bristol Improv Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, The Free Association in London, and The Second City in Toronto. Alongside that I've done one-off and intensive sessions with some of the best in the business, including Patti Stiles, Susan Harrison, Maria Peters, Lucy Fennell, and Conor Thompson, among others.

    Pricing

£70 an hour for improv performers, directors or producers - group rates available. For a programme of work (e.g. 3 × 3hrs of rehearsals) I offer a discounted flat rate rather than my hourly rate. The fee depends on the scope and aims of the programme - happy to discuss. For corporate rates, please get in touch.
